SCULPTORS ASCENT

A lone magician must make her way up a series of increasingly difficult challenges to peak of this mystical temple. Her magical powers allow her create columns of earth, rocketing oneself into the air. As she reaches summit she is offered a difficult choice, become a master sculptor locked in stone and run this temples trial, or walk away never gaining the title she desires.

CONCEPT

Goal was to create a small game in Unreal Engine 4 that lasted 5-10 minutes with a distinctive beginning, middle, and end with a distinctive end choice. I chose to focus my game on a fun mechanic I discovered while play around with blueprints, by rapidly expanding a mesh I could rocket the player upwards. I spent a week playing with this mechanic and testing different uses.

EXECUTION

I think the final result showcases the main spell-casting ability clearly and is enjoyable. Although not visually very flashy the assets are consistent and you get a good feeling of the space. Players are lead through the level using simple coins. They provide a secondary short term goal for players while also allowing people who enjoy collectibles to explore all of the world. If I were to make this project again I would implement a more branching decision rather than a simple end choice.
